Flood Warning
Mood:  sad
Dandelion and I will be spending tonight and tomorrow night at the vet's or someone else's apartment. There has been much rain in our area. The river is swollen and cresting. Normally, that is not a problem, but more rain is expected and the creek by our home will have nowhere to drain the water because of the crested river. (The water even runs backwards when the river crests, the mother tells me.)

Flooding is inevitable, the familys says. They only hope it stays in the streets and does not reach the house, but they have to plan for the worst. I may not be able to post here for a few days. The mother has a cell cam and will post pictures to it as events unfold. See www.BamaPhotos.com for the latest news on us if I do not post here.

It will not be fun to be away from home. On the other hand, sniffing all these boxes that the family just brought into the house is very interesting.

Mood:  smelly
The parents give us a can of moist cat food once every week or two. We eat this right up. Unfortunately, the last time we got moist cat food, we got a sick and threw up a little.

Cats sometimes can not handle a diet change. A little moist food now and then seems to be good for the digestion, but the vet says it is bad for our teeth. The parents are going to find something else moist to give us, but for now, we are sticking with our dry cat food.

Neither Dandelion nor I are crazy about other food, well, except for grass (which Dandelion loves) and catnip (which I will eat). Dandelion likes one bite of human meat now and then, but only one bite, then he is satisfied. All I want to do is sniff what my pet humans eat. I can't believe humans like so many different things.

Dandelion Saves the Day
Mood:  cool
Dandelion did the family a great service last night. He coughed up a hairball behind the recliner.

The mother and father were disgusted until the father pulled the recliner out from the wall and discovered that it was falling apart with screws on the floor and dangling parts underneath.

Thanks to the hairball, the parents were able to fix the recliner before it completely fell apart and hurt someone. Leave it to a cat to save the day!

Boxes and Sacks
Mood:  energetic
Yay! A box came to our house again. These things smell so interesting that Dandelion and I immediately go up to one and check it out. I really love jumping inside them.

The young girl came over, too. She played with me a LOT. She threw things down the hall that I chased. She brushed me. She opened a paper sack and scratched at one end. I went into the sack to attack the sound. I has so happy that, when she left, I sat in the hall for 2 hours, waiting to see if she would come back. She is the most fun of any human I know.

Masters of Relaxation
Mood:  lazy
Cats have laziness down to a fine art. Everyone could learn a lot about relaxation from a cat. Like me, my nephew Myst prefers to sleep on the master bed. We can stretch out real well up there and maybe get a little petting and attention from our humans as they walk by. Who says cats are not geniouses?

See any Fish in There?
Mood:  a-ok
Myst (my nephew since we both have Persian blood) and Lucky (an abandoned kitten who found a new home with the young girl and her husband) are having a good time together. Myst says his main pet human is the young girl. Lucky claims the young guy as his main pet.

One of their pets took this photo. They were looking at the swirling water in the toilet, a convenient place to play and drink from. It's good of our humans to keep fresh water around for us and we appreciate it even though it can be a little hard to reach.

Puzzle Pieces
Mood:  mischievious
I jumped up onto the kitchen table and watched the mother put together a small jigsaw puzzle. When she got up for a minute, I took a piece into my mouth and was about to make off with it, when the mother stopped me. Darn! These potential cat toys batted across the floor perfectly well. There's no better use for them.

Dandelion & the Bath
Mood:  chatty
Dandelion usually looks around for a human with a warm lap so he can sit in it. I was plopped in the bathroom doorway while the mother took a bath. I watched Dandelion come up and jump on the edge of the bathtub. He stared at the water a long time. I wonder if he was thinking it should go away so he could get the mother to come out. When he leaned over to take a drink, the mother gently shoved him away saying something about detergents in water being bad for cats. Dandelion will drink or eat anything. Not me! I don't like human food and bathtub water does not tempt me at all.

The Cable
Mood:  bright
The father was dragging a cable across the kitchen floor yesterday. I love it when unsual things happen around here and I make it a point to sit in the middle of all the action, thus I sat down right by this cable and thoroughly sniffed it over. Alas, it did not appear to be alive. It smelled dusty and old -- still, it had potential to be a great toy so I stayed put.

I was really hoping that someone would drag it around, then I could pounce on it and chew it up, but alas, it did not move much, although I kept on eye on it.

The real fun came later when a box arrived. The mother cleaned out the box and left it on the floor for Dandelion and me to smell and jump inside. I love boxes! They smell curiously strange. I don't know why they arrive with all kinds of garbage in them, but at least the mother will clean out the garbage so we cats can enjoy a good box.

In the Wheelbarrow
Mood:  lazy
Dandelion and I have switched beds. Now I am sleeping in the wheelbarrow and he sleeps on the floor. The mother was surprised when she saw me in the wheelbarrow this morning. Hey, it was sunny up there and Dandelion was nowhere around at the time I found this warmer spot.

The father lined the wheelbarrow with newspapers and padding, then put a cat bed in it along with a footstool so I can easily climb in. It's the perfect place to sleep since he only uses the wheelbarrow rarely.

Other cat beds can be found around the home, so we have our pick of several places. Dandelion and I both prefer to find a spot where the sun is shining in the windows or a place in the house. Today was a good day to be inside the sunny garage. (Besides, the mother was vacuuming today and neither of us cats wanted to be in the house with all that loud noise.)
