Groceries
Mood:  mischievious
I love inspecting the groceries. I jump on the table and stick my head in every sack. I smelled meat somewhere around here. I am going to find it!

Santa Cats
Mood:  surprised
Someone told the mother that putting a Santa hat on our heads would be cute. First, she and the father put a hat on Dandelion. He was mildly annoyed but put up with it because he was hoping to get a good massage. They put the hat on Myst who protested but put up with it. Myst looks pretty good in it.

Finally, they waited until I was sound asleep. They carefully set the hat on my head and snapped a quick photo. Then I felt the hat on my head. I panicked and ran for it. I can't stand stuff to be placed on me. The only time the parents can do something like this is if I am asleep. Otherwise, there'd be a lot of clawing and biting.

New Place to Sleep
Mood:  lazy
When Myst came to live with us, he brought a small cat climbing post. The parents put it in the living room temporarily. I love it! Myst and I both climb up here and watch our humans watching TV. (Myst likes to watch TV himself - not me, though I like the way sitting up here puts me in the center of things.)

We cats are having such an amusing time that the parents may just leave it in the middle of the room. Watching us play is better than watching TV, they said.

Well-Dressed Myst
Mood:  chatty
Here's Myst looking sharp and well-dressed. He's wearing the bandana that the vet gave him. The mother put it back on to take photos. He's looking pretty suave and sophisticated. The young girl is holding him. She likes to visit often. We are glad to see her because she has more energy than the parents and plays all kinds of fun games with us.

Being Cautious
Mood:  quizzical
Myst and I are being very cautious with each other. We do not pounce or wrestle. Instead we sniff noses and I trill at him sometimes to entice him to play. (I would like to wrestle, but I hate making any other cat angry with me so I am taking this slowly. I want Myst to become my best friend.) The parents are slowly getting Dandelion to accept Myst, too. Dandelion still wants to drive him away, but the parents hold and pet him when Myst walks into the room.

The parents thought I was a small cat (although I look bigger with my fluffy winter coat). Then Myst came along -- he's a mini Persian. He is 1 & 1/2 years old and full-grown which is almost too hard to believe. I am glad that I'm not the smallest cat around here anymore.

Christmas Card
Mood:  amorous
We are getting Christmas cards! This card had the name of a girl cat in it. I have seen pictures of Schmidt -- she's good-looking! I figure this car is mine so I am keeping it with me.

Playmates
Mood:  happy
Myst is great to be with. I am no longer bored around here. He fascinates me and I follow him all over the place. The parents have remarked about how quiet I've been lately, no longer nagging them for attention as much. Instead I nag Myst to play with me. I am gradually getting my way. This morning, we ran up and down the hall together.

Myst likes to be brushed. Even more, he likes to grab and chew on the brush.

Our New Cat is Myst!
Mood:  celebratory
Our new cat is Myst!! I know him since he has come to visit us every once in a while. The young girl and her husband own two cats, but her husband is allergic to them so they are going to keep the short-haired cat and let us have Myst back.

Also, Myst needs to eat special food because his stomach is so sensitive -- so does Dandelion. I can eat any food - I am pretty tough. Myst does best with a human at home during the day who can clean up and give him medicine when he needs it.

As for me, I am thrilled!!! I love Myst. After only 3 hours of snarling and hissing, we became friends again. I follow him all over the house. Last night, I was trilling to him, trying to entice him into playing with me. Myst is not quite ready to play with me, yet, but he lets me follow him around.

Dandelion is another problem. Dandelion does not want another cat in the house. It will be a long time before Dandelion accepts Myst.

Sleep is an Art
Mood:  cool
Cats know the art of sleep. A lion can sleep 22 hours a day. A housecat can sleep about 16 hours a day. (I suppose, having humans for pets makes us work harder so we stay awake more often.)

Exciting news! I am getting a permanent playmate this afternoon. The mother is bringing home a new cat, about 1 & 1/2 years old who has special needs and would do best with someone who is home all day to watch him. I can't wait! Yay! It's been so boring around here since the flood cleared up.

The Bed is Too Short
Mood:  not sure
Here I am enjoying the art of relaxation. This bed is too short, though. They need to make it longer so I can keep my tail up on top, too.
