Sleeping and Waking at the Wrong Times
What a day yesterday! When I was awake, Myst was asleep. I walked around, wanting him to wake up and play with me. I even stood in the bathroom and cried (everything sounds better in the bathroom so I go there to cry sometimes - it really confuses the parents who can't tell where I am even though they hear a loud "MEO-O-O-O-OW!" somewhere in the house).
I finally got sleepy and settled down for a nap. Myst then woke up. The mother says he wanted to play. He walked around the house looking for me.
It got worse. After my nap, I woke up to look for Myst again. He had gone back to sleep! I was so upset that I jumped up on the dark bathroom counter again and meowed loudly. (I really like how my voice sounds in the bathroom - good acoustics in there.)
This photo was taken earlier today. The mother gave us a string to play with. We both played with an end of it together. In a short time, we forgot the string and chased each other around the kitchen.Muddy

I like to do sneak attacks when playing with Myst, so I jumped into the middle of this cat pole and waited. Eventually Myst jumped on top. Now, I could make my move!
I leaned out carefully and paw! paw! paw! I tried to paw at Myst. I didn't get very far. My head was upsidedown and I was sort of wedged in and hanging on tightly with my other paw, but I made my point. Myst pawed back at me, then charged down the hall. I chased him. Then he chased me back up the hall. The parents said they have never seen either of us happier than this. Life is good.Muddy

His Name is Rocky
His new name is Rocky. It kind of goes with his new brother's name, Lucky. On Christmas Day, Rocky and Lucky got a bath from the young girl's husband who is allergic to cats, but wants to own them. Bathing a cat helps keep the allergies away. The young girl worked at the hospital that day (she is a registered nurse).
Myst would not let anyone bathe him. He is almost as stubborn as I am. That's another reason he is doing well at my house.
Last night, we had loads of fun. We played hide and seek. One of us would hide and the other would try to find him before he got pounced on from behind. Myst could hide very well, but I am bad at hiding because whenever I could not see where Myst went, I stood in the middle of the hall and cried as loudly as I could. Making noises while trying to hide does not work with this game.
Oh well, we ran up and down the hall a lot. The parents laughed at us a lot. Everyone had a good time last night.Muddy

The Day After Christmas
Is it the day after Christmas already?! I don't want Christmas to be over. On the other hand, I like playing with my toys. This wrapping paper is fun to sit on. I think the mother should lay fresh paper around the house every day. I told her about it this morning, "Meow! Meow! Meow!" I said to her.
She didn't get the message so I went over to the father. He was brushing Myst. I went up to him, "Meow! Meow! Meow!" He started to brush me, too. Ah! That felt so good that I forgot what I was going to tell him. Instead, I purred out my contentment. (As you can see in this picture, brushing makes my fur all soft and fluffy.)Muddy

It's Christmas! Yay!
It's Christmas! At last! Goody! Goody! Goody!
Now we get to play in papers! I love sitting on, jumping over, crawling through and sniffing under wrapping paper. I showed Myst just how much fun it can be and he joined me. It was so nice of the parents to take the junk wrapped in these papers and leave the best stuff for us behind on the floor.
Myst and I are having so much fun with these that the mother says she will leave them on the floor for a few days.
As for Dandelion, his idea of fun is curling up in a warm spot and taking a long nap. If the mother sits down, he will come over and climb into her lap. She says a cat keeps her nice and warm, especially in winter. We cats take good care of our humans.
I hope all of you have a Meowy Christmas.Muddy

The Most Curious Cat
The mother says, of all the cats she has ever known, I am the most curious. True, I like to look in every open closet and climb into every bag and box. I even tip over trash cans around the house to look inside for new toys.
What I think is a toy and what the parents think is a toy can be two different things. Truly, anything can be a toy. When the mother opens the fridge and I am around, I stick my head inside to check it out.
When the mother reaches over to pet me after being busy all day, I want to sniff her hand thoroughly before I let her touch me.
Tomorrow is Christmas! Yay! This means we get to play in piles of wrapping paper and ribbons. Here's what I did with it last year

New Kitten in the Family!
There's a new kitten in the family. He's a Himalayan like me -- a flame point Himalayan, even! Due to allergies between cats and humans, Myst came to live with us.
Even though he was much-loved, Myst was having bad eye problems and dietary reactions in the young girl's house that they could not seem to work around. Her husband was more allergic to Myst than other cats. Myst needed a special diet and especially needed a human home during the day to watch him.
It was hard for the young girl to give him up but she realized it was best if Myst came to live with us. Myst may have even been allergic to Lucky. After 10 days with us, it was apparent that Myst would do better. Not only that, but I am very, very happy to have a friend like Myst. I am gentle and careful with him as he is with me.
I do not sit around bored and crying out my boredom to the parents as much as I used to. Instead, I walk around with Myst and we play. Myst is happy, too. Everything is working out well.
Alas, the young girl and guy missed Myst even though they had Lucky, their other cat. Lucky missed his playmate, too, although Myst had been feeling so listless that he mostly hid under the bed all day. The mother felt sorry for her humans and offered them as slaves to another kitten, a purebred Himalayan! The mother says Himalayans are her favorite kind of cat (although she loves all cats).
The new flame-point Himalayan boy does not have a name yet. The young girl and guy want to watch him and see what name fits. He is a tough little guy, climbing all over everything and vocalizing a lot, as I do. Maybe those are Himalayan traits. We have both Siamese and Persian blood in us. It explains a lot.
Now, my family is much bigger. Over here is Dandelion, Myst and me. Over at the young girl's is Lucky and the new kitten. I'll be posting about them all from time to time.
Here are some more pictures of the new kitten: New Kitten 1

My Buddy, Myst
I am teaching Myst all about how to control the humans here. Myst knows how to get the mother to open the blinds, to pick him up, to open a door and how to get brushed. He learns quickly for a small cat.
Here we are, looking out of the window together. I am so happy to have a friend in Myst. The parents have noticed how much I enjoy my friend. We like to run up and down the hall and play paws, too.Muddy

Someone told the mother that putting a Santa hat on our heads would be cute. First, she and the father put a hat on Dandelion
. He was mildly annoyed but put up with it because he was hoping to get a good massage. They put the hat on Myst
who protested but put up with it. Myst looks pretty good in it.
Finally, they waited until I was sound asleep. They carefully set the hat on my head and snapped a quick photo. Then I felt the hat on my head. I panicked and ran for it. I can't stand stuff to be placed on me. The only time the parents can do something like this is if I am asleep. Otherwise, there'd be a lot of clawing and biting.Muddy
